I find that a good warm-up before a full practice session helps with water. Play continous long tones. For some reason on my Buffet GL, if I have to rush to practice or rehearse, and I don't warm up, I, for one, tire out easily, and second, get tons of water!
I know this sounds redundant, but swab several times throughout your session, if necessary. Sometimes a gurgle can be caught early if you swab on a regular basis. This is especially true during concerts - if you have a movement of rest, or a considerable period within a movement, swab before it's too late!
