Sorry to hear your bad experience. I purchased my Barrington from WWandBW. Before they ship, the instrument is sent to their inhouse repair shop to veryify correct adjustments. My oboe came to me quite playable. No problems with keywork/mechanisms. In fact, I was surprised at the quality of the instrument considering what I payed for it. My F# key is not misplaced, covers the tone hole nicely. Not sure what you mean by the C link and as for it being too low, what are you comparing it too. Afterall many manufacturers have their own designs. Did your instrument have a bell ring? Mine doesn't. So mine doesn't look exactly like the photos of the oboe.
I've never bought anything from ebay...don't plan on it in the near future either. But I know some people have great success making purchases that way.
Anyway, I'm glad your instrument is playable now.
BTW...on the bell of my oboe, the logo reads, Barrington Music Products Ind.
