Well, I have been doing something to prevent that which may not be recommended, but it is effective.
During a long rest, I swab immediately *after* playing the previous segment rather than *before* the upcoming one, AND (here's the possible no-no) I leave the swab in the upper joint of oboe (I'm talking about a long-tailed silk swab here).
When it's coming up to the time to play again, I just remove the swab, reinstate the reed (which has more than likely been in my mouth the whole time), and have a nice dry oboe with which to make my entrance.
