And this, I believe, was exactly what Robert Sorton was demonstrating last weekend at the OSU Double Reed Day. It definitely works, at least as a teaching tool. I think once one gets the hang of it, the approach becomes quite a bit more refined -- not so much a huff as a continual pulsation.
