I think what the demonstration at the IDRS conference set out to prove is that there is a difference in where we perceive the vibrato and where it actually takes place.
The bassoonist's diaphragm did not pulsate, but moved inward and upward like a bellows forcing air through the reed. The vibrato was taking place in the larynx, just like a singers.
As far as people speaking about it in interviews and writing papers about it...well, there are people who have very specific views on vibrato-as you may think that I do, and are unpersuaded by the other side.
