I've noticed tuning issues on G2 and have usually tried lipping down. I'll try adding fingers as you suggest.

Years ago I created a soaker wrapped with PVC-coated 2.5 mm electrical wire, which clips to the central pillar of my stand. I did the same for my tuner.
