Hmm .. heavy stand. How heavy is it? How big is it? If you put it onto a sheet of A3 paper, doesn't it slip around?
The K&M doesn't look that sturdy in the pictures, basic X - shaped base, but with good pegs. If I'm going to order one I need to decide today since I have someone visiting from the UK next week. You recommend it?
Thanks for all the tips viz. marking the music to take the reeds out of the soaker - I hadn't thought of that! And painting the stand top with white paint is a great idea - now I only have to guess where the bell is :-)
I hate the sling anyway - if I raise the bell, I stab myself in the back of the throat with the reed.
I am making myself a leg-hook - fits onto my right leg and presents a hook for the bell. My prototype looks goofy but it works a treat. I'm also considering making a phred-like chair support and trying that, and I have ideas for a sprung floor-pin which may prove to be the best of all, but is the most work. Depends how much free time I have between now and then.
