Thanks guys! I think you have both identified part of my issue - flute and clarinet came first, and boy, are those different air-wise!
(On a positive note, I made it into the orchestra I was auditioning on campus for today...my non-practising over the summer kind of paid off...)
I would love to say I could use instruments as my therapy, but I have issues making it through phrases others don't struggle with on flute, and that is my first (and pro-level) instrument, despite the amount of work I do, the capacity doesn't improve. And with oboe, I get frustrated at the lack of air and find myself piking out because it becomes hard work. As for a hard reed, I've got that one covered! (Short-scrape player here).
I am fairly certain if it weren't for wind playing, my asthma would play a part in my every day health, which it doesn't currently. I wish I could find some supplementary exercises in addition to playing!
