I bought a 3 pack of jointer blades, made handles for two of them out of leather and reed string, and they make perfect little shavings of cane.
Sadly I tried sharpening one homemade knife and messed it up. Fortunately it still works, but the edge is a bit off kilter from the wedge. Now I use my messed up knife to scrape everything but reed tips. No tip work for that knife! I really need help with knife sharpening.
The second knife I made is perfect. The edge is still great. I have one unused blade left and am hoarding it.
