I agree with all sentiments ceptin' the ice cream.
Actually, I agree with that,... just don't eat desert any more. Middle-aged thing.
I got over my American-only prejudices about 25 years ago, and its a big beautiful world of oboe as a result.
I even found some Holliger where I actually really like his sound. I always like his playing artistry, though.
And I even like the blend of American oboe with other approaches. While rare, it can really work well. And you get to hear two really different styles and sounds in the same piece, it sets up the true life of each part.
