.... this kind of discussion seems so rare and difficult to get.
Both Bart Scheemann and Han de Vries are remarkable players: a must-study for every serious oboist, especially those with less exposure to international playing styles.
Nagamatsu shapers are hard to find. It is used by Lang Wang at the N.Y. Phil. Laubin sells some (narrower models) and he can put anyone in touch with the USA maker?/reseller? I got samples of the wider models (sent my own gouged cane) and just never got a decent reed to my own taste.
I like the American embouchure because I find it flexible: can do a lot with it. However, you are right, I need reeds that will counter my big and strong air flow. This generally requires a firmer lip, but still an open embouchure: thus there is still room for bending notes.
