New supplier necessary, and, may I guess, a better embouchure? Can you produce a B/C natural on the reed alone and sustain it? Is it possible to produce an A natural? How about a C#? If the higher pitches are easier, the reed is probably a little too closed. Its hard to find the balance but basically one should try to achieve an embouchure where b-c (with Reed only) is easy to play loud and soft and where The high notes require a little more lips to push up and the lower notes a little more effort to "relax down" to. If you are determined that it's not an embouchure problem, then yes, you need a better reed. Does the reed crow a C (when you blow in the thread, again just with the reed) with a raucous sound or with a single monotone?
