I am assuming you are playing short scrape reeds since you are in the UK?
Wire helps a lot of opening problems...but if adjusting it is not helping then it may be a scrape/gouge/diameter issue.
Merlin's suggestion is a good one - try clipping the tip, fraction of a millimetre at a time.
Then try thinning the very sides of the scrape - sometimes this can trick the scrape into thinking it is harder than it is.
If you have the option from your supplier to purchase harder reeds, I would definitely consider that.
