Thanks for the link, Robin, although by watching the first video in the series he didn't seem to explain what the substance was that he used to back the velveteen to make the reed holders - it looked like card to me.
I recall some time ago on this board that someone had suggested some kind of flexible material (possibly a soft metal?) which was in a strip and could be shaped but held its shape somewhat (don't know if I explained that very well, I guess it would have a consistency similar to solder?), but for the life of me I couldn't find it in a search!
I have also located some very cool cases that are marketed as hard case wallets (like a hard ladies purse) on That Auction Site which would make very marketable larger reed cases - God bless China's ability to make cheap and cheerful trinkets!
On that (slightly sideways) note, has anyone ever purchased one of the wooden reeds cases that come out of Korea and China, and what was you experience with it? I bought one of the bassoon reed cases, and while I don't use it that often it seems to be fine, but just curious about ongoing regular use?
