 Single Reed Player Considering Oboe

I'm a long-time clarinet and sax player looking to pick up the oboe (mostly for fun, but you never know). The first step is clearly getting a reasonable horn -- but, WOW, are oboes expensive compared to clarinets and saxes! Any advice on an affordable, decent student model horn? I'm a fan of vintage clarinets and saxes, but it seems like vintage oboes are generally in seriously bad shape!
