Agreed. You don't even need to play an instrument to like and appreciate good music. But something that sounds too mechanical, like these very young pianists who play liszt or teeny violinists playing paganini... without an ounce of art, falls flat. Having said that you have to be technically up to the pieces you play publicly so you have to concentrate on the art.
