 Technical facility, musicality?

I think our threads are scaring youngsters who are trying to learn the oboe. Haha....we are way to technical at times. Well, how much distance is there between good playing and good music? Its sad to say that all over the world conservatories and other such educators of music (http://www.classicalmusicguide.com/ <--good stuff..haha.) are now more and more focussed on technical aspects of playing instruments instead of the music itself. One might argue that you need technical ability to be able to play good music. Yes standard repertoire is good music, but how about the simple music that enlightens us all? (Gotta love Babirolli's arrangement of the Concerto for oboe and string orchestra by Correli, beautiful and not too technically demanding!) I think we should really instil the idea of thinking, analysing, and interpreting music into youngsters as soon as they can play scales and all that. Don't you agree? Technical facility grows together with the efforts of the player, and i belief interest will be created once the student does not think of playing the oboe as a burden and difficulty, but more of an enjoyment of music in the early stage. Any ideas regarding this?
