Could you and others elaborate on the different reed characteristics from different gougers (single and/or double radius) machines.
One time my Ross machine needed to be adjusted/maintained because the curvature slope flattened and the sides became thicker.
I don't know if this happens because the blade needed to be resharpened and/or the machine was not aligned properly; in any case I was quite interested to observe when the curvature changed - I couldn't make any reeds ................ less vibrancy and most noticeably a "very sharp upper register" - especially the octave C.
(I discussed this in past posts when I couldn't make any reeds - and I finally sent the gouger back to be adjusted).
Anyone else with a similar experience?
Mark
