I am not "used to" to the gouge yet. I have only made a handful of reeds on it and I sure I will come around to the gouge. Right now I am finding I am having a hard time getting enough depth in the sound when the reed is longer than 70.5mm, but as soon as you get close to 70mm the depth starts to appear in the tone. My finished reed length is generally 70.5mm, so you can see why, at first, I wasn't sold on the gouge.
In the past 3.5 years I have owned 6 gouging machines. An Innoledy, a Ross EH machine, 2 graf machines, a reeds n' stuff machine and this opus one. Also, I have used two RDG machines for a short times as well, although I never owned them.
