It is something I constantly grapple with myself - opportunity versus time. I am always aware of overcommitting myself, but somehow always wind up doing it anyway!

Having said that, I wish as a young student I had done more performing, or rather, that I had been made aware of the opportunities for performing that I try to provide my students with now, one being external ensemble playing. The saying 'make hay while the sun shines' does ring true often.

If you are organised by nature, being busy isn't too much of an issue - the more busy you are, the more organised and efficient you need to be. Also consider other aspects of your schooling as to whether you can take time away from study.
