Yes, I realized later that Ebonite linings are de rigeur for Bassoon joints, and nobody seems to complain. If this experiment is a success, hopefully the other manufacturers will follow suit.
Do I understand correctly with the Duet+ 400 series, that the top joint is first over-bored including the tone-holes, then filled with resin, and then re-bored to spec.? How can they do this and keep it so cheap?
What is the verdict on the Buffet Green Line oboes? How are they holding up? AFAIK they are made from a grenadilla-and-resin based material and purportedly do not crack.
Have Marigaux stopped making their clear-plastic instrument? I know that no self-respecting orchestral principal would be seen dead performing on one; nevertheless, initial reports were that it sounded fantastic.
