The potential trouble with such a thin barrier (on the intermediate oboes) is that if any tuning that involved undercutting or filing on the tone hole had to be done, you could possibly break through the lining. In that case, you should probably try to reseal it, but you'd have to be careful what you use to seal it since that may contain a solvent that would also damage the lining. Maybe Yamaha has thought of this and has a suggestion.
