I don't know whether you've ever stumbled over a Lark, but I bought one by chance which I've been happily playing for 13 years now. All I can say is that this Chinese replica is a nice oboe, correctly tuned with a sweet pleasing tone. Surely it would be misleading to rate it as is 'right out of the box': for sure setup isn't the manufacturer's forte and the instrument needs to undergo a complete overhaul before being put into action, but the outcome is rewarding. Decidedly not to be compared with molded plastic, entry level clunkers.
In a future post I'll tell my extended considerations about it, so stay tuned.
