thanks EaubeauHorn, are you suggesting sight-reading in bass clef might work out to be an asset for improving general sight-reading in treble too?
Perhaps i should take another look at all the music i've ignored bass clef ...
one of my biggest efforts this year has been to get more new music just to sight-read it, as you say once you've seen the music, it isn't cold read any more, so there's an ongoing quest for more new music, just for sight-reading practice ! and music isn't cheap ... so it would be more economical to sight-read bass clef in the pieces i've got ...
i always used to learn choral pieces by ear, the accompanist drilled us section by section, and after that i could see how it looked written on paper
but playing straight up just isn't the same thing, because the ear doesn't even know how it's supposed to sound yet ...
