The Oboe BBoard

I use silk ones as they compress right down to almost nothing to get through the top joint bore (which is only 3.9mm at the base of the reed socket).
After use I flatten them out and fold them up several times on themselves and then roll them up for storing in the bell (and wind the string round to keep them from undoing), just to keep them from crumpling up widthways, so when unravelled they make maximum contact with the bore.
Though I do make sure there's no knots in them before using, and I've got a different coloured pullthrough for each instrument - green for oboe, yellow for d'amore and blue for cor so I can be sure I'm not going to use the cor or d'amore one in my oboe. Though if I have all three instruments out at any one time, I'd just use the oboe (green) one for them all which saves the hassle of using the others.
