Walter,
I measure the heart on the spine where I start the blend to the tip (66 mm from bottom of tube) I try to get that as close to 0.50 mm as possible. I also measure the center of the tip of the tip at the finishing stage & try to get that as close to 0.10 as possible. Nothing exotic here; just a very sharp knife & meticulous attention to detail.
