Certainly most professionals work on reeds during concerts and rehearsals. But for an oboist to keep the orchestra waiting while frantically adjusting a reed just before the tuning note... that definitely indicates an entirely unprofessional lack of preparation. We oboists should never let on to our colleagues that we're stressed about reeds. Nobody wants to sit around nervously wondering if the oboist will finish the adjustments and have a reed playable in time for their big solo in the next movement!
