Hello all,
Just thinking of things to discuss here. How about reed knives. What you use, how you feel about them.
I use two:
1. Albion "Herder" Double Hollow Ground - Very light, the blade moves around slightly in the handle, so I do have to hold my thumb on it, easy to sharpen. Good cheap knife for beginners like myself with bad sharpening technique (It is definitely being sharpened unevenly)
2. Rigotti RH Bevel Knife - Nice all around cheaper Bevel knife. Metal is definitely harder than the Albion, I don't know how hard on the scale of all reed knives in the world. I recently started lifting the edge up slightly on both sides to shapen, and that put quite an aggressive cutting edge on it, which I like (and that's a good thing, cause I think that's irreversible now). Cut my reed making time in half when I did that, along with other techniques.
In my relatively humble, amateur opinion, I'm happy with them.
