Hello,

I play the clarinet and have always been interested in oboes. Currently, I cannot afford two teachers.

How unrealistic is it to buy an oboe (I have the opportunity to buy an overhauled student one at a very reasonable price), and use a book until next year, when I'll be able to afford a teacher?

If this is a bad idea and will either not work at all or cause too many bad habits to become ingrained, please say so.

Thanks,

Margaret
