Hello all --

I wanted to see what would happen if I attempted to contact the so-called "Seller" involved in this fraudulent Ebay listing, so I sent them a query via the usual Ebay channels, asking permission to bid (I didn't bid, BTW).

I did not get a response from the "Seller," (even though he/she had demanded that potential bidders contact him/her before bidding) until after the auction had closed today (although I sent my query three days ago).

This afternoon, I received the following email. (I have already forwarded it to Ebay, with routing details and information about the fact that this is a repeat scam.)

Please excuse for my late answer but I had some problems with my internet service provider.

I've just read your email and I think that we can start the deal only if you understand that I'm a serious seller and for this reason I put this bidding restriction, to be sure that the winner will be 100% agreed with all my payment and shipping details.

The oboe is in perfect working condition and it will come to you in original case. It wasn't ever cracked or damaged in any way. Shipping and insurance included.

Right now I'm in Manchester, UK where I work for a project. I sell it cause I need money to buy a computer for my work.

If you are interested please tell me and we can start the deal.
