I also sent email to this "auctioneer", and received the same bogus reply (suspiciously, from "virtualmail.com") after the auction ended. In viewing the email's header info it was obvious that it used a blind relay, much the way that some spammers do.
Regarding the feedback: I looked at all the seller's feedback, and it appears to me that it was "padded" with several remarks about the person's merchandise being "authentic", from buyer ID's that had no previous purchases. That may indicate that the actual seller ID and history were constructed for this purpose.
The only tip off (other than the idiot repeatedly using the same bait in the form of that beautiful oboe) is the requirement to contact before bidding.
