Just been watching them (SFSO) doing Mahler 7th - all the oboe section players play with the same angle - even the cor player.
To me it doesn't look comfortable, especially this playing angle when playing cor having to stretch that far to play with the reed at that angle.
Just did some reading up, Tabuteau was a cor player when he took up an orchestral position in the US, and he was a former pupil of Gillet back in France.
