In contrast to Shelley's experience, my students have had no trouble with Bulgheroni's being pitched sharp. Indeed, far too many high school groups play way sharp and I am continually correcting my students, using a well tuned piano to accompany them on solos. I urge all of them to buy and use tuners. We do not have to make reeds particularly long to achieve A440. My experience has been that many college oboe teachers and pros in this country refuse to consider ANY brand except Loree. I own a Loree and a Laubin for myself but could easily play a Bulgheroni if I could not afford the former. My choice is Laubin--but there is a seven year wait list for one, and the cost of either Loree or Laubin is beyond most students means. Lois Barton
