I played a Bulgheroni oboe from 11th grade to about the second month of college. 1995-97. I acquired it refurbished from WWBW.
It was a beautiful instrument, and had all the fixin's-a full conservatory model. For $1200 I thought it a steal. However, when I began college my oboe instructor said "this has got to go". Holding up my Bulgheroni to a Loree one could see the obvious difference in length. The Bulg was at least a half inch shorter.
I got my Loree, and haven't turned back. I sold the Bulg to an amateur in Hong Kong.
Other than the horrific intonation problems, which I fought for years since I was used to playing so goddarn sharp (my high school instructors were not so good about intonation), the instrument had a beautiful tone and was rather free blowing, but enough resistance to be comfortable.
I understand the Euro/American difference in manufacture. Just make sure you check what you're getting and make sure it fits your needs. I just didn't know any better.
