Chop and change--never heard that one before. I like it!
What you say makes sense. I did play EH in the pit last year with the strap and do know that it would have been easier without. My oboe teacher plays without a strap. For some reason I just always assumed the strap was the way to go. So when I saw her playing without, I thought maybe I should try it. Plus I play soprano sax without a strap, and it's somewhat heavier than a cor. So today I started practicing sans strap, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
