A musical-friend had a single-reed mp, I borrowed it, cut down an Eb cl reed for it, as I recall. It didn't have the pitch-control of a good double reed, and a somewhat diff sound. Not very satisfactory!! Even after considerable layoff, I have little fingering trouble on picking up a "modern" oboe, just embouchure weakness!, so am not impressed by minor efforts to make it like a sax or clar. So I still put up with its improved-antique fingering system, and "Plan-Ahead" on which F fingering is best. I would like tho to see Paladino's Boehm system explored! Don
