I don't think it's any major physical/psychological problem. If you don't have problems playing the oboe otherwise, it's probably just another skill you have to hone.

The best way, I find, to clean up bad intervals is to actually play them articulated. Yes! So practice A-C without slurring. Try a triplet rhythm at quarter=60. Then gradually boost the tempo until you can't play it any faster, or you start making mistakes. By tonguing, especially short tonguing, it forces you to finger the note at the right time, and not be sluggish.

Then, GO BACK TO SLOW, and gradually start adding back the slurs. For example for every two triplets you might slur once:

(C-A)-C / A-C-A. Then maybe add another.


(C-A)-C / (A-C)-A. And so on.

Work on one pattern at a time. Work to play it as fastly but as cleanly as you can. Then, you move onto another pattern, again, starting from slow.
