She may not be, but her husband is. I don't know how generally their procedures are followed by others in the profession. I do know that both of them are respected professionals. He is the oboe professor at a major American university and a former big-city symphony principal, and was a Mack student at CIM. Her credentials are more mundane, but solid nonetheless.
Like you, I was skeptical when given this advice, but so far, I have not used any sealant, and have had no problems at all.
