This is a very interesting comment from sylvangale, so i'm wondering how many other people have similar kinds of physical experiences? P.S. sylvangale, 10 lbs equals 1 (imperial) gallon of water, suggestive of retained cellular fluids, which perhaps means your sodium-potassium electrolyte balance is favorably adjusted by forced aerobic management on oboe

... or, maybe oboe-playing actually consumes more calories ? Anybody measured that?

... myself, trimmed waistline 3 inches just since playing oboe; also face-lift (mentioned that some earlier post long ago) although i will concede that the tendons in my neck are also more sculpted as well, and that's influencing my choice of higher necklines in clothing

... also, during warmup phase of practice or rehearsal, i usually go through a kind of 'hot flush' phase when i get quite hot, then that settles down to a comfortable warmer than usual temperature when shirt sleeves are OK even in a cool winter room, this isn't such a plus in summer, but i've noticed body's temperature management is more stable in summer when i'm playing regularly

... nearly always feel remarkably energized after playing, it's an aerobic workout which produces quite a high that lasts maybe two hours

... then there are the affidavits from asthmatics who say their condition has improved significantly after taking up oboe

... other physical benefits, anyone?
