There is a fairly cheap, under $40 software called Flip4Mac that has resolved all file format challenges so far for me.

But you might also import the video from the camera straight into iMovie... then make a movie and use it in iDvd.

It is worth the learning curve. Hang in...

Also almost every technical challenge i face has an answer on youtube vids folks post out of kindness.

Sometimes not the greatest production, or syntax, but the goal is learning the one thing you need that eludes... It usually works for me.
