Myself: 28 years old, Semi-professional theatre musician, resume includes cruise ships, community theatre, High School and College pit filler.
1) I can use Garageband or Protools. Have used audacity to take lead vocals out of tracks. Still doesn't work well cause the reverb is still present.
2) Have used a program that I forget the name of right now.
3) Eh, maybe.
4) No, but Audiolobe is a good program for it.

I guess the reason I posted is I don't really see the novelty in Midi. The sounds are terrible, and midi replaces my job on frequent occasion. Actually I despise Midi, I don't expect you to have the same opinion. Nothing beats good real musicians. I realize when people don't have the money to afford this, midi is getting better. But those that make millions in the music business should use live musicians to make their music the best it can sound. I don't know how classical performers can use midi. I can understand how producers use it. You can use the timecode to control lighting rigs. That seems useful.
