If you're looking at the reed from a side angle, the more gradual the blend is from the heart into the tip, the less stable. The more abrupt (like a cliff face) the more stable an F will be. I'm not saying that it should be totally abrupt, but you have to find a balance in between there.

I'm not sure what angle you're exactly talking about, but I have a feeling you're talking about the center of the tip, and what you leave in the middle of the tip if you're looking at one blade at a time?
