 Re: Adjustments for Wonky F

"So the clear solution is to have this additional F resonance key added to my instrument, yes? Mr. Frank is happy to do this for me, but of course I've wanted to explore all options before having the instrument altered. I'm at the end of my rope, though, and have a solo recital coming up in a few weeks. Any last-ditch ideas?"

Depending on where the F resonance key is fitted could influence the cost of fitting it. If it's a Josef-style F resonance key (with the pillars on almost the direct opposite side of the body from the F vent) then that should be the least costly, as will be one similar to the one on my Marigaux d'amore which is linked directly to the F key pad cup with an adjusting screw and the F resonance tonehole is near the F vent tonehole:

The most costly version is probably the most common type which has the pillars and key barrel for the F resonance key running directly beneath the feather key barrel right where the D#-E trill mechanism clutch is (and the tonehole almost opposite the F vent tonehole), so it will probably mean having a new set of feather keys made and fitted with the clutch set around 90° to where it is now.

The existing set of feather keys can probably be used on another instrument being built as they won't be able to be reinstated due to the position of the F resonance key barrel. Maybe there'll be some kind of part exchange cost if the existing feather keys can be reused on another instrument.
