A long delayed update on this thread: well, the audition went okay - could have been better, could have been worse. I have got in on a trial; the next concert has The Rite of Spring in it, so they need extra oboes anyway. I'm a little disappointed it's 'only' a trial, and that they didn't just accept me outright, but hey, at least I get to play that piece, which I have never done before and may never do again! I'm suspecting that someone else is going to be on trial too, and they'll decide which of us to take on permanently after the concert, which will be a little scary.
