Yes, I've been using that 'mashing' fingering for high Es and Fs in most of my scales (although it does always feel a little awkward...)
As you say, if it's just high F followed by high Gb, then using the left little finger on both G# and Eb makes it easy to play Gb without any sliding.
The problem I run into with using the long fingerings in this particular scale is that if I play high Eb using the B key then the next note, F, needs to use right hand G# and Eb, which then means sliding to the C key for high Gb.
I guess what I'm wondering is whether oboists tend to slide fingers in cases like this, or hunt around for some alternative fingerings that work on their instrument. It does seem quite difficult in this case to find fingerings that avoid any sliding at all.
