I've been practising my scales over the whole regular range of the oboe, and the top 3 notes of Db major are Eb-F-Gb.
The fingering chart that came with my oboe (a conservatoire Fox 333, no 3rd octave key), gives the standard fingerings as:
Eb - 1/2hole 2 3 | 0 2 3 + low B key
F - octave1 1/2hole 2 0 | 0 2 3 + side G# and RH Eb key
Gb - octave1 1/2hole 2 0 | 1 0 0 + RH C key
which I understand are the usual 'long' fingerings for conservatoire instruments. These all speak easily, but require sliding the right little finger from the Eb key to the C key.
I know there are a million different fingerings listed on the Woodwind Fingering Guide, but are there any fingerings for this combination of notes that are commonly used? Would you use different fingerings for a slow, legato scale than you would for a very quick scale up and down?
