Sorry for your loss, Carol.

Dutchy has a good handle on the reed market. But here's another idea: if you live anywhere near a university or metro area, there are almost certainly oboe teachers around who make reeds for their students. Schedule a lesson, and see if you can find a teacher who will make a few reeds for you and show you how to use them! I got completely hooked on having top-drawer reeds that way, and it has been a habit that has stood me in good stead as a performer.
