thank you susan, the oboe is the school's and I think it is wood. What is Wooodwind- all and what does it do? I had a teacher but she was just a music teacher and had no experience with the oboe. But I think she looked online or something and I know a lot about the oboe. Thank you for telling me about reedreviews.net. The two brands that my local music store sells are Emerald(2 & 1/2 stars) and Jones (3 stars). As a student I am forced to buy the Emerald because it is the cheapest and I am low on money. Do you think it would help the lifespan of my reeds to get a reed case? If so what one would be good for me? Also do you have any embouchere ( not spelled right) tips? Because frankly I sound like a duck right now. no joke! thank you again for your tips! [grin]
