Mark -- I suggest that you get someone else to play the two instruments for you while you stand in the back of the hall. My experience is that they both can be huge, depending on the individual instrument, with the difference being mostly in the timbre (and my experience is that the Loree sound is more focused, but that the Marigaux sound can also be very focused if you make a reed to that particular end, and that the Loree sound can be less focused if your reedmaking favors that end). If hugeness of sound is a very great priority, then try the Loree Royale model instead of the regular Lorees.
By having someone else play the instruments for you you whiile you are standing close as well as when you are at the back of the hall, you will also be able to discern how many of the timbre characteristics you like are only local and what aspects of the sound project.
As I mentioned in an earlier exchange, I favor the Marigaux (and Laubin), but have appreciated the sound of many a Loree player.
