I've had the reed come off the crook also--bad moment! A 1/4 inch of tygon fish tank aerator tubing over the binding end of the EH reed makes a much better grip on the crook. Slide about 1/8 in over the reed end and the rest clings to the crook. Take along the crook so you get the right diameter tubing. You may have to put it in hot water a few seconds to stretch it over the binding on the reed. A beautiful Turk's head finished binding on reed tho makes this impossible. A chemistry lab or teacher can also usually supply you with the tiny piece of tubing it requires. Lois Barton
